Set up two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second step when you log in: after your password, you enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. Even if someone learns your password, they can't get into your account without your phone.

What you need

  • An authenticator app: Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, or any app that supports TOTP codes.
  • About two minutes.

Turn it on

  1. Log in to the portal and open Settings (avatar, top-right).
  2. Under Security, click Set up next to Two-factor authentication.
  3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app — or type the key in manually.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code your app shows and click Verify & turn on.
  5. Save your backup codes somewhere safe (a password manager is ideal). Each code works once, for the day you lose your phone.

Logging in with 2FA

After entering your email and password (or signing in with Google), you'll see a code prompt. Open your authenticator app, type the current 6-digit code, and you're in. If you've lost your phone, type one of your backup codes instead.

Lost your phone and your backup codes?

Contact support from the email address on your account. We'll verify your identity and help you regain access — this takes a little time on purpose, so save those backup codes.

Turn it off

  1. Open Settings and find Security.
  2. Click Turn off and enter a code from your authenticator (or a backup code) to confirm.

We recommend keeping 2FA on, especially on paid plans.
