Compare Documents
Compare Documents takes two files and highlights what changed between them — added text and removed text, side by side. It's a diff tool for contracts, drafts, and revisions, so you can see exactly what moved without reading both versions line by line.
When to use it
Reviewing a contract redline, checking what changed between two drafts of a document, verifying that a vendor's "updated" invoice only changed what they said it did. Anytime someone sends you "version 2" and you need to know what's different.
How to use it
- Open Compare Documents and upload the original file.
- Upload the revised file.
- The tool aligns the two texts and highlights additions and deletions.
- Review the highlighted differences on screen. One comparison = one document of quota.
What the output looks like
A comparison view with removed text marked (typically struck through or red) and added text marked (typically green or underlined), in context. You see the changes inline rather than as a separate list.
Good to know
- The comparison is text-based. It works on PDFs with real text and on text-extractable files — not on scanned images. Run scans through Searchable PDF first.
- Reformatted text (same words, different line breaks) can show as changed even when nothing meaningful moved. Focus on the highlighted words, not the layout noise.
- Very different documents produce very noisy diffs. The tool shines on revisions, not on comparing unrelated files.
- Upload the older version first and the newer second — the highlighting assumes that order.
- For legal documents, the diff is a review aid, not proof. Always read the final version yourself before signing.
